DomainKeys Identified Mail, or DKIM, is a system for checking the authenticity of an email by using an electronic signature. When DKIM is activated for a particular domain name, a public key is published to the global DNS database and a private one is stored on the mail server. If a new message is sent, a signature is generated using the private key and when the message is delivered, that signature is checked by the incoming server using the public key. In this way, the recipient can easily know if the email message is authentic or if the sender’s email address has been spoofed. A mismatch will appear if the content of the email has been changed on its way as well, so DKIM can also be used to ensure that the sent and the received email messages are identical and that nothing has been added or deleted. This validation system will enhance your email security, as you can validate the authenticity of the important emails that you get and your partners can do likewise with the messages that you send them. Depending on the particular email service provider’s policy, a message that fails to pass the examination may be deleted or may enter the receiver’s mailbox with a warning alert.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Website Hosting

If you purchase one of the website hosting packages that we’re offering, the DomainKeys Identified Mail feature will be activated by default for any domain that you register under your website hosting account, so you won’t need to set up any records or to enable anything manually. When a domain is added in the Hosted Domains section of our custom Hepsia Control Panel using our NS and MX records (so that the emails associated with this domain will be handled by our cloud web hosting platform), a private encryption key will be issued instantaneously on our email servers and a TXT record with a public key will be sent to the global DNS system. All email addresses set up using this domain will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, so if you send out email messages such as regular newsletters, they will reach their target destination and the recipients will be sure that they are legitimate, as the DKIM feature makes it impossible for unsolicited parties to forge your addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Our Linux semi-dedicated hosting come with DKIM enabled by default, so in case you choose a semi-dedicated hosting plan and you add a domain using our name servers through your Hepsia Control Panel, the records required for the email validation system will be set up automatically – a private key on our mail servers for the electronic signature and a TXT resource record carrying the public key for the global DNS system. Since the DKIM protection is set up for a certain domain name, all e-mail addresses created using it will carry a signature, so you won’t have to worry that the emails that you send out may not reach their destination email address or that somebody may forge any of your addresses and attempt to scam/spam people. This may be rather essential if you rely on electronic communication in your business, since your associates and/or customers will be able to distinguish authentic email messages from forged ones.
