Sender Policy Framework, or SPF, is a validation system, that is designed to prevent the so-called email spoofing where an email message is sent from one e-mail, but to seem as being sent from a different one, generally with the idea to scam the recipient for some reason. If SPF protection is enabled for a domain name, a unique record is made for it in the Domain Name System and all of the DNS servers around the world receive it. The record features all the e-mail servers that are permitted to send valid messages from an email address part of the domain. When an e-mail is sent, the very first DNS server it goes to checks the SPF record and when its sending server is permitted, the message is sent to the targeted receiver. In case, however, the sending server doesn't exist in the SPF record for the given domain, the message will not be submitted and it'll be removed. In case you use this service, it'll prevent third parties from sending spam emails that look as if they have been sent by you.

SPF Protection in Website Hosting

If you host your domain names in a website hosting account with us and we manage the email addresses for them, you are able to enable SPF protection for all of them with several clicks in your Hepsia Control Panel. The service can be found in its own section where you'll be able to see which domain names are currently secured. For those that aren't, you'll be able to enable the SPF protection option and manage numerous things in the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mail addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to create a rule that email messages can be sent only when your domains include our MX records. The last mentioned option is the most secure one, but it can be used when we take care of the e-mails for your domains and you are not using a different e-mail supplier. The newly created records will propagate within 1 day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an email using your email addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

When you have a semi-dedicated server account from our company, you can protect your email addresses by activating the SPF protection service for any domain in the account with only a couple of mouse-clicks. This is done through the Emails section of the Hepsia Control Panel which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts and even if you lack previous experience with these kinds of things, you will not have any kind of problems to enable the security. All that you'll have to do will be to select a domain from a drop-down menu and after that type the mail server hostname and IPv4 or IPv6 address. When the updated record propagates, messages from your email addresses will be sent globally only if they were sent from that server. In case your e-mail addresses are handled by us and not by some third-party provider, you will also be able to activate an option for emails to be mailed only if the domain name contains our MX records and this would be the most secure option. If you have any kind of questions related to thisfunction, you will be able to get in touch with our support crew 24/7.
